Quiescence, Key Largo, MM 103, (305) 451-2440
Well, we had 8 lucky divers participating in our August 15th drift dives with the very comfortable Lady Go Diver out of Deerfield Beach. The reefs were beautiful with plenty of sea fans and huge sponges surrounded with a vast variety of fish. The weather was perfect, company was great and the lunch at JB’s on the Ocean, overlooking the beach was a nice conclusion to this great outing. We have now made arrangements for our next dive on September 11th, at Quiescence in Key Largo, 103680 Overseas Highway. We will have our own boat, limited to 6 divers, so sign up as soon as you can to reserve your space. We plan to dive two 30 foot deep reefs. Any one needing tanks, please let Bernd know. Air tanks are $8 plus tax per tank, to be paid for in cash at the shop. Please be there at 12:30 pm, boat leaves at 1pm sharp! You will need to bring your C-Card and Log Book. Please mail your check in favor of Miami Ski Club for $71 (tanks not included) for members and $76 for guests to (please provide your cell phone number and e-mail address with your check): Bernd Meier, 3350 Devon Rd., Coconut Grove, Fl 33133.(305) 310-1265.

FLORIDA SKI COUNCIL
FSC Friday, November 5 - 7
Holiday Inn, Orlando, FL
As a Miami Ski Club member, you are welcome to attend the Florida Ski Council meetings. There are two major planning meetings, with the November session coming up. The November meeting is all about ski trips. Summaries of select ski trips for the 2012 season are sent by the FSC to the 17 Florida ski clubs in advance of the fall meeting. clubs then review the venues and the bids, and provide input. The selected resorts give a presentation and an open discussion is held. By vote, the FSC clubs select a “short list” of resorts. At the fall meeting those bids are reviewed, the prospective destination resorts make a final presentation and a vote is taken to decide on the final venue for the January, February and Spring Break trips for 2012. Several of us on the Board attend semiannually; if this interests you come along! Food is sponsored by various venders and there are fun activities, such as golf, to spice up the weekend. More details and cost will be published in the October Newsletter. Contact Bill Grieco at vicepresident@miamiskiclub.net for information. You may also visit www.Floridaskicouncil .com and learn more about the FSC.
